How to Estimate the Cost of Your Tattoo

If you're thinking about getting a tattoo you're probably wondering what you'll need to spend. A lot goes into tattoo cost, including design, location and time. This article gives an overview to help you estimate the cost of your new tattoo.

There's nothing like getting your first tattoo. If you've already spent time thinking about a design and location you've probably moved on to cost. While approximate cost of any tattoo can be difficult, there are a number of things to consider that can affect the price. Everything from the city you're in to the level of detail will go into price. Here's an overview of the most important things to think about to help you budget for your tattoo.

The first thing to be aware of is this: certain cities and states tend to have higher tattoo prices than others. Keep this in mind when discussing cost with friends or relatives; you may end up paying more on average in your area than they did out of town. Cities like Las Vegas and Los Angeles offer a wide variety of artists to choose from.

The placement and location of the tattoo can also be a factor. Tattoos on the hands, neck and legs will generally cost more than those on the arms. If you're selecting an area of the body that's difficult to tattoo you can expect to pay a bit more, although this will depend on the artist.

Color selection plays a role a well. Are you getting a tattoo in black ink only or do you want some color? Each color you add to the design will often add to the price. If you're thinking about a large, multi-colored tattoo be prepared to pay over $150.

Of course, the size of the tattoo will directly affect the price. Most tattoos start at $50 to $75, no matter how small. This is because the cost of supplies must also go into the price. A tattoo that covers the entire forearm can start around $125 to $300, depending on other factors. In general, be prepared to pay at least $75 for even a small 2" x 2" tattoo.

The complexity of the design also directly affects the price. Keep this in mind if you're interested in a realistic portrait or image. Bringing in a photo or drawing that you want the artist to copy will lower the price, while asking for an original design will increase the cost you pay. Most artists factor in the time they spend to draw the tattoo.

Tattoo Removal Reviews - What Is The Difference Between A Tattoo Removal Cream And TCA Removal?

There are three differences between a tattoo removal cream and TCA Removal:

1. Pain

2. The risk of side effects and complications

3. How they work

• A tattoo removal cream does not cause pain, because the ingredients do not damage or break the skin.

• TCA (Trichloracetic Acid) is an acid skin peeler designed to be used on wrinkles and acne scars. Obviously, peeling layers of skin hurts. It is so painful that dermatologists use pain medication during TCA skin peels for acne or wrinkles.

2. Risk of Side Effects and Complications

• A temporary, minor complication from using a tattoo removal cream is that at first, the tattoo appears brighter. This doesn’t last long. It shows the cream is working. It is working in tandem with light exfoliation to bring ink to the surface, where it can be naturally shed. An effective tattoo removal cream uses ingredients proven safe and effective in other skin lightening treatments for moles, freckles and skin discoloration.

• One side effect of TCA removal is scarring. The peeling away of layers of skin with this acid damages the fragile epidermis. As skin heals, it will always scar.

• Another complication occurs when using TCA around the eyes, mouth, or lips. Even the websites selling TCA removal products clearly warn not to use them near facial openings.

What medical experts say about TCA

“Trichloroacetic acid may cause severe burns and is highly irritating to the eyes and skin. It is a corrosive irritant to the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. Trichloroacetic acid is classified as a poison by subcutaneous (under the skin) route.” Source: Duke Medical School

3. How they Work

• A tattoo removal cream brings to the surface unwanted ink, allowing the body to shed the colored cells. Often a little light rubbing with a special sponge encourages new skin cell growth. Over time the inked layers of skin get closer to the skin's surface and eventually appear faded or erased depending on the depth of the colors and the size of the tattoo.

• TCA Removal works by burning off top layers of a tattoo. Dermatologists avoid TCA for tattoo removal because patients are not satisfied with the results. Tattoo artists shoot ink deep into layers of the skin. Chemically peeling the top layers might lightly fade a tattoo, but it can’t get at the deep ink pigment of a tattoo. And remember, TCA can be poisonous if introduced under the skin.

The Warning About TCA Removal and People of Color

This warning is absolute. The marketers of TCA tattoo removal products clearly state they can be used ONLY on Caucasian skin. They will cause negative results on black, brown and Asian skin tones.

Other Considerations

• If the tattoo is on a sensitive or private area, peeling and pain from TCA removal would not be advised.

• Tattoo removal cream requires using a lot of the product over a significant period of time. It brings about a slow, steady fading of ink without pain and you will use a lot of it.

In summary, the primary differences between tattoo removal cream and TCA removal are safety and effectiveness.

Sun Tattoo Meaning

One of the most popular sun tattoo meaning is glory and fierceness. Read on to know more about the significance and meaning of sun tattoos. Body tattoos are very popular throughout the world since centuries. As the sun was a deity of many ancient civilizations, people adorned the sun tattoo as an honor to their deity. However, today tattoos are used by men and women for self-expression or to make a fashion statement. Nowadays, adorning a sun tattoo does not mean that you are a worshiper of the sun deity. Most of the people have this tattoo simply for its beauty rather than the meaning associated with it. However, there are several other meanings related to it.

Sun Tattoos

The sun is a timeless choice for tattoo as you can have a traditional as well as a modern design depicting the sun. Nowadays, you have myriad option of colors, patterns and designs to choose from. On the other hand, you can either go for tribal tattoos or Celtic tattoos, depending on your preference. Although you can have the sun tattoo on any part of your body, like the arm, shoulder, chest, back, legs, etc.; the one on the belly button look really hot.

We find the references of the sun in all popular myths and folklore in nearly all the parts of the world. The sun was considered (is still considered) very sacred and was worshiped in nearly all parts of the ancient world. The role and the symbolism of the sun is different in different cultures. Therefore, the reason behind having a sun tattoo depends on the person's belief, culture, outlook and also varies accordingly.

Tattoo design inspiration and research

A tattoo and the design, in my opinion is an extremely personnel thing, getting marked on the body is not something you should do lightly. I have seen dozens of people go out, get a tattoo on a whim, and live to regret it.  In all honesty, most tattooists although most are highly skilled artists lack the passion to come up with something new and exiting for every customer.  they fall back to the same set of flash books they have had for years producing the same old tats year in year out.  Unless your tattooist is truly in the top ten percent for passion for the art it's going to be down to you buddy, to find the artwork

Tattoo mistakes people make

Unless you’re a total looser you would never pick a tattoo on a whim from the first place you see.  You need to look around.

Getting the perfect tattoos can be a painful process and I am not just talking about being inked.  All the searching, the hassle of it all going from one tattoo place to another looking at their flash books and not seeing anything you like. On to the next tattoo parlour and then you have enough of all the crap, getting a tattoo was supposed to be easy. Then you do the UNTHINKABLE you settle for something that's not quite right but you have that second rate tat anyway.

Your sitting there in the tattoo chair he's starting up his gun and your looking at the transfer in the mirror and the brains saying " I'm not sure" but what do you do? you ignore it that inner voice.  You numb skull!

If the situation that I've just described sounds a little close to home - I am so sorry.

I'm sorry I wasn't around to point you in the right direction to find the perfect tattoo before you made the big mistake.  Oh and I'm sorry you’re a numb skull

Getting a tattoo design that is unique

Well my friend that’s where you have to do some research.  If you are truly passionate about having a work of art inked into your skin then you need to find the piece of art that inspires you so you can inspire your tattoo artist to his or hers full greatness.

Getting A Tattoo Removed In New York? Do Your Research First

Ok so you want get rid of an unwanted tattoo? If you live in or near the New York area then you already know you have over 100 options for clinics that perform laser tattoo removal in NYC. There is a reason there are so many doctors advertising laser tattoo removal in New York - there is a lot of money to be made.

New York is one of the most competitive and expensive areas of the country for laser tattoo removal. That means you have to really do your research and choose the right professional if laser tattoo is your chosen method of tattoo removal. I suggest making a lot of calls and visits if at all possible. There is also a good reason to do some research on the laser removal process.

Some people are under the illusion that laser tatto removal is a single visit deal. That is very unlikely. Laser tattoo removal in NYC, or anywhere else for that matter, will mean multiple visits and some discomfort. You were probably not aware that the laser will penetrate the skin with heat nearing 900 degrees. That is hot. It is all part of the process to get your body to expel the inks and flush them from your system. The treatments are spaced out to give you a chance to heal somewhat before the next session. I wonder how many people determine that the pain and cost of laser tattoo removal is too much to bear?

There are also different types of lasers that are more effective on some colors than others. It is not likely that every clinic will have all the technology in-house. Even i they did have every laser, the cost to you would be prohibitive. Still, when you think about it, it is a little scary to place such an important task in the hands of one person. But, I guess anyone with a tattoo has some expericience in making that decision.

So the essential point is do the research. Research the tattoo atist who will apply your tattoo and research the person who may have to remove it. A tattoo may be forever but the side effects and potential scarring of laser tattoo removal has its own downside.

You may want to consider fading your tattoo yourself before you start bouncing all over New York looking for a tattoo removal clinic. Some tattoo removal creams can fade a tattoo to the point where laser treatment is not required. If laser is still the preferred method, fading the tattoo in advance will reduce the number of sessions required to remove the tattoo thus saving you money. This is crucial since maser tattoo removal can cost 10 times the amount of the initial tattoo application.

Consider Wrecking Balm to fade or remove your tattoo. Even if you started laser treatment and decided you do not want to continue, self-fading may be a way to complete the process with far less cost and far less discomfort.

Is A Dolphin Tattoo Just Another Tattoo?

Symbolism plays a big part in how we communicate. It was believed to be the earliest form of communication as evidenced throughout history. Man has an innate need to express his feelings. But there are some things that we just cannot put into words, or sometimes words aren’t enough, that one single representation is all it takes to deliver the message we want to convey.

One of the most common form of self-expression today is through tattoos. But getting a tattoo is not as simple as buying a new wardrobe that would make a statement. It takes a lot of decision-making as well as researching for meanings of different tattoo designs and ideas. And one of the today’s favorite tattoo designs is the dolphin tattoo.

Men and women alike seem to favor dolphin tattoo designs. It could either be a single dolphin, or multiple ones. It could also be combined with other tattoo designs such as flowers, tribal themes, and other symbols. A dolphin tattoo is also commonly depicted in the color of the ocean but it could also be done in colors that the wearer fancies.

But what makes a dolphin tattoo so popular? Aside from it being cute, the meaning that a dolphin tattoo portrays is deeper than what meets the eye. Dolphins have long been believed to be the link between humans and the underwater world. Dolphins are mammals just like us. They are warm-blooded, intelligent, they communicate through their own language, they need air to survive, they give birth to live young and arrange themselves into families or pods. No wonder us humans identify with these animals! But the appeal of the dolphin does not end there.

Dolphins are free-spirited, playful, and are often seen frolicking in the water and this is what some of us want to capture in a dolphin tattoo. They represent freedom, happiness, and love for life. The symbol of the dolphin is also believed to bring good luck and prosperity to the person wearing it. It is also the symbol of rebirth and hope for a better life ahead.

In Celtic beliefs, dolphins, which is associated with water, has the power to cleanse and rejuvenate a person and start life anew. In Chinese philosophy, two dolphins represent harmony. In Native American culture, these gentle creatures symbolize kindness, play energy, and wisdom. They are regarded as the messengers of knowledge from deep within us. When dolphins show up in the form of dreams, it is often positively regarded. Dolphins in dreams represent change, hope, and happiness.

There are different representations for the dolphin symbol for different people, different cultures and different beliefs. And through a dolphin tattoo, these positive representations of this gentle creature are carried by the wearer. But for some, it is solely the beauty of the dolphin that determines whether they would show up on the surface of their skin or not. And sometimes, even that is enough.

Whether To Get a Butterfly Tatto or Angel Tattoo?

Why Someone Might Want to Get an Angel Tattoo Versus a Butterfly Tattoo

You are considering getting your very first tattoo, and you are not sure what you would like to get. You want to make sure it is something expressive, and something that you would be proud to display on you skin for the rest of your days. Thus, you have decided that you might like to get an angel tattoo.

Regarding Angel Tattoos

There are many reasons why people choose to get angel tattoos. When you think of an angel, what do you think of? Perhaps love and protection come to mind, and since angels can be a symbol of both, it is no wonder why some people who have gone through tough times choose to get an angel tattoo. Angels are meant to watch over us, so another reason why people might choose to get an angel tattoo is as a way to remember a loved one who has passed away. For example, if you have lost someone that you loved, chances are that you would like to think that your loved one still watches over you and is now an angel. Thus, you can incorporate you loved one's features into your angel tattoo.

Perhaps you have the nickname "Angel" and would like to get an angel tattoo because of that. Or, Perchance you are a spiritual person and would like to celebrate your creed by getting an angel tattoo. There are many reasons, but the important thing, once you have chosen the angel design that you want, is to figure out where you would like the tattoo placed.

If you are a man considering getting an angel tattoo, consider getting the tattoo on your chest or your upper arm, as those are two favorite places for men to get tattoos. You might also considering getting the tattoo on your leg. If you are a female, perhaps you would like to place the tattoo on the small of your back. Or, perhaps you would like to place it on the upper part of your shoulder. No matter where you put it, be sure that it is in a place that you believe the most comfortable.

There are many separate kinds of angels, so if you have a favorite angel, be sure to find a clear picture of the angel and bring it to the tattoo artist to use as a base for your tattoo. Of course, as with any tattoo, make sure that you choose a reputable tattoo artist. You are sure to find the right tattoo artist with the proper research.

The Varieties And Importance Of Butterfly Tattoos

Butterfly tattoos are the most popular tattoo design for women all over the world. Women from all walks of life choose the butterfly for their body art to signify the belief that they are free-spirits, destined to go with the flow of nature. Butterfly tattoos also symbolize the metamorphosis of a girl into a woman, much like a caterpillar turns into a beautiful butterfly.

Several Types Of Butterfly Tattoos

There are many alterations to the butterfly tattoo, making them easily customizable for any personality. Some individuals choose to combine their butterfly tattoos with flowers, such as lilies, daisies, roses, or sunflowers, while others combine them with a vine to create beautiful armbands. They can be created as a tribal design using thin lines and basic colors, a Celtic design, or your regular garden variety butterfly. Butterfly tattoos are like snowflakes, with no two designs being exactly alike unless it is planned that way. Due to the infinite amount of styles, colors, and combinations available in butterfly tattoo designs, anyone can create the perfect butterfly tattoo to be you.

Special Meanings For Special Areas

Numerous people like butterfly tattoos because of their ability to be placed anywhere on the body. What most of them do not know is that the position of the butterfly tattoo on the body can imply a special meaning. When the tattoo is placed on the shoulder, the tattoo signifies that the woman is a dreamer who often has her head in the clouds and is not ashamed to admit it. Butterfly tattoos located in the chest area reflects a love of all living things, while tattoos placed on the lower back reflect stability, prosperity, and trust. A butterfly tattoo located below the belly can signify virginity, celibacy, or, in some cases, a return to innocence. Regardless of the tattoo's position on the body, a butterfly tattoo symbolizes the essence of life and the ability of the human soul to soar free of any earthly constraints.

Temporary Tattoo Designs Are The Perfect Trial Solution

Temporary tattoo designs are now very popular. At one time there were only a few sources to get hold of your temporary tattoo designs such as the dispensing machines or local store if you were lucky, but these days they are very widely available. When I was little we used to think how fantastic we were by sporting a temporary tattoo. They weren't much fun to pull off if they didn't go on properly but that never stopped us. Temporary tattoos are also a great 'primer' when deciding on whether or not you really want to go the whole hog and get a real life one.

You can source temporary tattoos in a wide variety of depictions and sizes, from small to large. You name it, the design is available in temporary tattoo design form, from the more traditional tattoos to ultra cool, funky and stylish modern ones. Want a cute dolphin on your left shoulder to try out? No problem. How about a barbed wire depiction on your ankle. You got it. You may want to opt for a word phrase in graphic art tattoo form. Well, those are available too.

I have noticed a trend in real life tattoos towards all black ink designs. You can also find these in the form of temporary tattoo designs and they are well worth taking a look at as they cover a multitude of subject matters.

Celtic designs are every popular and this is no exception with temporary tattoo designs. When considering these rather more traditional designs in real life, you may want to try a temporary one first. It is a good idea to choose a real life tattoo that has some importance to you as an individual or at least something you can identify with. A temporary tattoo affords you the luxury of trying out different designs and how they would look without worrying about the reasons you are choosing the tattoo to adorn your body.

There are even packages available on the market that allow you to make your own temporary tattoo designs. How fantastic. You design the tattoo using what is available in the package and then transfer them onto the desired part of your body that you wish the tattoo to be. Above all, temporary tattoo designs are great fun and anybody can give them a go without having to commit full time to a real tattoo.

Infected Tattoo Symptoms

Tattoos are cool and they surely can be a style statement. But they become a pain in the neck (literally!) when they start developing infections. The worst part is when one cannot make out if the tattoo has developed an infection, or whether it is some skin allergy. Tattoos are different designs made with a special type of ink which is inserted inside the deepest layer of the skin, the dermis. It is said that earlier, sharp objects like bones were used to make tattoos. But nowadays, tattoos are done with an electronic tattoo gun on almost any part of the body! The designs of the tattoos have also undergone a transformation over the years. Now, people prefer funky designs like Hawaiian flower tattoos or tribal tattoos, rather than religious designs. People also like to have their own designs done instead of ready-made designs.

Why do Tattoos Develop Infections?
The electric gun used for tattooing has a group of needles that moves up and down, inserting small dots of ink in the body. This in itself can lead to infections, as the skin has to be broken to insert the ink. If the ink used to make tattoos is of inferior quality, it will cause infections. Also, if the tattoo artist does not maintain hygiene and does not use sterilized needles, there is a chance of tattoo infection. Infections can also occur if proper care is not taken. It is very important to follow instructions given by the tattoo artist.

Symptoms

Swelling: After the tattoo is done, the area around the tattoo does swell, but it is temporary and it heals on its own. But, if the swelling starts getting worse, it is one of the infected tattoo symptoms. Excessive swelling can occur if a person is allergic to a certain pigment used in the tattoo ink. This can happen if you get a tattoo done from an unprofessional tattoo artist, as they generally do not use ink prescribed by the FDA. It is advisable to visit a doctor if such a symptom occurs. He'll prescribe you a topical corticosteroid ointment which will treat the swelling temporarily. If need be, the doctor will ask for further investigations to treat the root cause of the symptom (yet another reason to go to a professional tattoo artist!)

Redness: It is natural for the skin to become red immediately after the tattoo has been inked into it. But if the redness persists even after twenty-four hours, then it is one of the symptoms of infected tattoo. When the tattoo is infected, there is irritation along with redness.

Fever: There is no reason for you to have fever after getting a tattoo. So fever is surely a sign of alarm. Do not ignore it even if your temperature is just a little above 98º F. Rush to your doctor immediately. Excessive fever is a sign of spread of infection. Fever can occur even after removal of a Tattoo.

Discharge: A little blood discharge from the tattoo site is natural. But, if there is yellowish or green discharge, or if pus is oozing from the tattoo, it is a matter of concern. Excessive bleeding is also one of the symptoms. This can lead to complications if not treated on time.

Pain: The procedure for making a tattoo is in itself painful. If you have made a small and simple design, the pain will be less, because the number of needles used to make the tattoo are less. But if the Tattoo is big, the pain will be more as the number of needles used to make the tattoo will be more. So pain is an obvious thing when you get a new tattoo. But if the pain does not recede after two days, or if it is increasing instead of decreasing, it could be one of the symptoms of an infected tattoo.

Red Streaks: If tattooing needles are not sterilized, blood poisoning can occur. Red streaks extending from the tattoo are a symptom of blood poisoning. Red streaks are lines emerging around the tattoo. Any sores around, or on the tattoo, are also infected tattoo symptoms. Do not ignore these symptoms! Go to your doctor immediately if such signs are seen. General medications or home remedies can be done for other tattoo symptoms, but for red streaks it is not advisable to take any medication without the doctor's advise.

Significance of a Tribal Wolf Design

These tattoos symbolize power, intelligence, and courage for the ones who wear them. In Native America, wolves were considered as the spiritual guides, teachers, and pathfinders. As a matter of fact, they have an important place in Native American mythology. Wolves have been a consistent part of folklore, literature, and folk songs. There are some Native American tribes who assign the qualities of loyalty, victory, fidelity, dependence on their family, grace, and perseverance to wolves. With all the attributes attached to wolves, they most certainly are powerful animals. Wolves are survivors who travel and hunt in packs.

Along with the positive connotations, wolves have been portrayed in negative light as well. Their fierce nature and strong physical abilities can be taken in both positive and negative manners. Do not assume that it is only men who have a fascination for wolf tattoos. Women also do opt for wolf tattoos. For women, wolf tattoos symbolize power as well as independence.

Suggestions for Placement

The placement of the tattoo is a matter of personal preference. Also, the size and pattern of the design will determine the optimal location for your tattoo. So you can choose to get the tattoo inked on your upper arm, chest, shoulder blades, thighs, and even calves. If the person has a muscular arm, it lends a different degree of appeal to the tattoo. Depending on whether or not you wish to make your tattoo conveniently visible to others, select the location in that manner.

Tattoo Talk

With stars like Angeline Jolie sporting tattoos just about everywhere, can you blame the young kids today, if they want to get a tattoo or two? Tattoos in fact, are not a new concept. It is an ancient form of body art. Almost every culture in the world has shown traces of tattooing. In fact, the oldest known tattoo is five thousand three hundred years old!

History of Tattoos

Yup, Im talking about the tattoos that were discovered on Oetzi, the Iceman who was found in the year 1991. The tattoo he sports consists basically of criss-cross, vertical and horizontal lines. There is of course, some speculation as to why the tattoos are there in the first place. No matter the reason, the fact remains that Oetzi had a tattoo!

In fact, not just Oetzi, traces of the rich history of tattooing have been found in various other cultures as well. Russian mummies, about 2400 years old, found in Siberia, Egyptian mummies, Japanese figures and even our very own Red Indian culture you name it and theyve been tattooing each other for years!

Tattoos represent a variety of things social stature, religion, prayer incantations. In many cases, theyre just there for decorative purposes. Men and women all over the world sport beautiful tattoos of every possible color and shape. And you can join their number too.

How To Spot a Good Tattoo Artist

But dont rush into anything. Before you get a tattoo, it is very important that you consider your decision carefully, because once you get a tattoo, you cant get rid of it easily. Plus it is really expensive to remove it. Ask around to find out where people are getting their tattoos done and consider reviews. Tour a few tattoo parlors first before you make your decision.

First thing you should notice about the tattoo parlor is whether it is clean or not. See whether the tattoo artist is using sterilized needles and tools in fact, it is best if you visit a tattoo artist who uses disposable needles. Be sure to take note of the general cleanliness of the place too.

Ask a few questions too. It is a good idea to get as comfortable with the staff at the tattoo parlor as you possibly can. Also check out the designs in their catalogue and on the internet as well. In order to see whether they are any good, you can compare the actual design with the tattoo on a person. Then you can decide whether you want to work with a particular tattoo artist or not.

Tattoos Designs For Men - Why You Should Get Inked

Although there are a lot of great tattoos designs for men out there, the top most popular choice in tattoo designs seem to always have an intricate art that is innate in every piece. They have deeper meanings that have been carried on through time because tattoo bearers love seeing their experiences, character and personality on the tattoo image.

Here are several types of tattoos designs for men that have stood the test of time:

Tattoos As a Symbol of Marriage

Art tattoos designs have been worn as a marriage tattoo. This actually serves the function as our modern day wedding rings which are worn as a symbol of commitment to one another. But more than a symbol of commitment, primitives have believed that their tattoo will allow them to find their spouse in the afterlife. Nowadays, you can still see the practice of couple tattoos in matching tattoed armbands, rings, initials, symbols as a permanent witness to their unending love and fidelity for each other.

Tattoos As a Rite of Passage

Adolescents in many tribes who are nearing maturity would go under the needle to get a tribal tattoo before they become socially accepted as an adult. A young man who could not bear and endure the pain of getting a tattoo would be unfit for battle, hunting or for fending for his own family. This dooms the young man to live an outcast life for the rest of his days. In modern times such as today, teens turning eighteen or twenty-one anticipate their coming of age by getting a tattoo to celebrate their entry to adulthood.

Tattoos For Totem Animal Guardianship

Tattoos designs for men were worn by a couple of tribes such as the Pacific Northwest Native American tribes, the Druids and the Celts of the British Isle because they believe in the power of particular totem animals to guard and bless lives of those whom the animals choose to protect. A marking of a totem animal gives the bearer the strengths and abilities of the certain totem animal and it also serves as a mysterious link between the spirit of the animal and the bearer of the mark. Even today, many tattoo enthusiasts boldy sport a tribal tattoo based on a certain animal because of the qualities and strengths of that particular creature.

Tattoo guns

Tattoo guns are obviously the most important thing for a tattoo artist. Without this a tattoo cannot be made. Such a machine was invented by Thomas Alva Edison but however it was not intended for tattoos. It was actually invented to work as an engraving machine. This invention was later copied and modified as a tattoo gun. An ink chamber was added to this engraving machine and finally transformed to a tattoo gun.

Through the years, tattoo guns have changed and modified. They have become more sophisticated with better designs and easier to handle. Controlling speed of the gun as well as the depth of insertion of the needle can be controlled now.

It is also important that proper care is taken of these tattoo guns. Infections as well as diseases can be avoided by proper disinfection of the tattoo guns. They are also available in different sizes. Some are designed to apply only a single color whereas other are designed to apply all the colors. Some of the tattoo guns are also hand made. The tattoo artists make different types of tattoo guns depending on their needs. Hand crafted tattoo guns are found in abundance in the market.

Proper sterilisation of the tattoo guns is very important. The same needle should not be reused in any case. Make sure that do break a new needle kit in front of every client.
It is important that safety is maintained. Tattooing is not only about the designs and creativity but also about safety. There are also ways of sterilising old needles by giving in an autodave. But not all the clients approve of this.

In case you are in need of a tattoo gun, make sure you buy it yourself. See to it that the gun is not very expensive and is comfortable to use. In case you need all the tattoo equipments together then you can order for a tattoo kit. It will have everything you need. It includes a tattoo gun, ink, transfer paper as well as a tattoo DVD that will explain step by step the process of tattooing.

Samoan Tattoo Designs

Samoan tattoos have been passed on from one generation to another. These intricately-designed tattoos are performed only expert tattoo artists who have knowledge about the culture. Read the following article to find interesting Samoan tattoo designs that you can choose from... The art of tattooing has been practiced in Samoa for over 2000 years by now. If you go through the culture of Samoa, you will understand the tradition of adorning body with artistic tattoo designs. In fact, the term tattoo is believed to have its roots from the Samoan word for 'correct' or 'workmanlike', tatau. In Samoan culture, tattoos are flaunted with cultural pride and dignity. Both men and women etch tattoos on their body, wherein the designs are much heavier and painful in case of men.

The Tafuga decides the design for every individual. The tattoo artist then explains the hidden meaning to the individual who's getting the tattoo made. The meanings depend upon the design pattern, shapes, and its location. One thing that differentiates Samoan tattoo art from other Polynesian tattoo designs is the absence of circles in the former. Also, it is to be borne in mind that traditional Samoan tattoo designs and applications are restricted to the arms, legs, and other body parts, but never on the face.

Designs to Choose From

Samoan tattoo art is usually prominent, covering a large body area. The design pattern is often symmetrical, comprising lines, solid blocks and interwoven shapes. The traditional designs are applied by a master tattooist (Tafuga) with black ink which is prepared from burning candlenut shells.

Traditional Designs and their Meanings

Men and women have unique tattoos and are known by different names. However, both have a very important and equal status in body modification. The traditional Samoan male tattoo is referred to as Pe'a, while that of female is known as Malu. These tattoos have specific implements having cultural significance and aren't done for just pleasure.

Pe'a
Pronounced pay-ah, these tattoos are done at the onset of puberty; as a rite of passage. It is more of a ritual accompanied with songs. The Pe'a design is applied in such a way that it covers the whole waist area to the knee line. The motifs inked on men have geometrical shapes, curved lines with thin cross beams (applied on the back), net-like patterns (specially around the groin area), and leaves of pandanus trees.

The Tafuga usually takes 10 days to complete the tattooing process, with 5 sessions and gap of 1 day in between sessions. The 5 sessions are proceeded in a step by step manner, with each session specific for a particular area. For example; height of the design (in back) is decided in the first session, after which the posterior section, thighs, middle thigh to groin and abdominal areas are covered in the following sessions. Nevertheless, it takes several weeks or at times years to complete applying Pe'a. Consequently, the healing period may last for as long as a year.

Malu
The designs for women are simpler and delicate, as compared to the ones men get. They are also not ritualized as in case of Pe'a. The original Malu design is without solid blocks and covers from upper thigh to the area just below knee line. Some women have Samoan arm tattoos with small designs. Popular shapes and patterns among Samoan women are dots, worm-like shapes, structure resembling leg of a golden plover and starfish.

Proper tattoo studio practices

The growing number of tattoo studios in Sydney is making it even more difficult for newcomers to distinguish between good tattoo studios and bad tattoo studios. If you're getting tattooed for the first time, there are a number of things you should keep in mind when deciding on where to go.

The growing number oftattoo studios in Sydneyis making it even more difficult for newcomers to distinguish between good tattoo studios and bad tattoo studios. If you're getting tattooed for the first time, there are a number of things you should keep in mind when deciding on where to go. Choosing a professional, clean and sterile tattoo studio is absolutely essential to your health and the health of yourtattoo. When we get down to it, tattoo artists deal with blood for a living. Day in day out, their working environment, their clothes, their tattoo equipment and their tattoo needles are exposed to the blood of many different people. Fresh tattoos are essentially open wounds, so realistically, atattoo studioshould be no less sterile than a hospital or a surgery room. And you thought it was just about the art!

You can't simply rely on a tattoo studio's reputation to tell you whether or not they follow good practice. Go visiting a number of tattoo studios and have a look around when you enter them. A studio should be clean and orgnised - if it's not, you should try the next one. All tattoo studios should also be fitted with an autoclave - which they should use daily. This is used to sterilise all equipment, and it's the standard machine used by hospitals and scientists for sterilisation. Autoclaves use steam, heat and pressure to kill any living organisms on the tattoo equipment.

Also make sure you can see thetattoo artistsusing disposable gloves and disposable ink cups. Everything should be for single use only, as this reduces the chance of cross contamination. There are plenty of low-grade, shifty tattoo studios who might not follow this practice due to the high cost of throwing things away and constantly needing new supplies. But this is part of the deal when you own a tattoo studio - anything less means the tattoo artist is compromising proper health procedure. A professional tattoo artist should replace his gloves if he's touched anything besides the sterilised equipment or your skin. The old ones get binned and new ones are put on.

In a professional tattoo studio, you should expect to see your artist opening sterilised packets of equipment in front of you before he begins work. All bio-medcal waste should also be safely disposed of, using a proper biohazard disposal company. It's important for tattoo studios to follow such practices, as even after the tattoo is finished and the customer has left, the contaminated waste can still pose problems for the environment or anyone who comes across it.

Tattoo studios have to protect their customers from cross-contamination or infection. Getting tattooed at the right tattoo studios also means you're helping spread awareness reputabletattoo studios, and helping combat myths and false hype. Even if you hear a studio being called 'the best tattoo studio in Sydney', if they don't have their health practices in check you should look for a better one. There are many tattoo studios out there with lax health standardsArticle Search, and unfortunately many first-time customers don't know any better. Learning about the proper health practices of tattoo studios is important for protecting your welfare and best interests.

Neck Tattoo Pain

Neck tattoos are gaining popularity because of their originality and visibility. But before getting a neck tattoo, it's important to remember that they are not easy to conceal, and neck tattoo pain is considerably more as compared to pain of tattoo in other areas. Everyone either has a tattoo, or wants a tattoo! What was once used as a religious symbol and then transgressed into a symbol of rebellion, is now used as a popular body art for self expression or as a fashion statement. People are getting tattoos on their shoulders, wrists, backs, necks, ankles and where not! It is estimated that about twenty percent of all the tattoos done, are neck tattoos. Neck tattoos are gaining a lot of popularity, probably because they are one of the most visible tattoos. The famous saying 'no pain, no gain' is applicable in almost all aspects of life, and tattoos are no exceptions. But many people who have got a neck tattoo believe, that neck tattoo pain is comparatively greater than other tattoo pain.

Neck Tattoos

First, let us try and understand more about neck tattoos. Neck tattoos are tattoos which are on the region just below the chin to the collarbone, along with the nape. Most neck tattoos are made on the sides of the neck or on the nape. If you are sure you want a neck tattoo, you can start with a tattoo on the nape of the neck. The nape tattoos are very popular with women, as not only is it a sensual place, but if they don't want to show it, they can easily cover it with their hair. Tattoos on the sides of the neck are not for the faint hearted. You have to be daring and not concerned with first impressions. Usually, this kind of tattoos are seen on tattoo artists or rock stars. The tattoos on the side of the neck are usually done on both sides of the neck for it to look symmetric. The front of the neck is one of the most rare places to get a tattoo. However, it is gaining popularity, especially neck tattoos that originate from the chest.

There are infinite choices of neck tattoos. The majority of those choices are feminine tattoo designs like stars, butterflies, dragonflies, tribal tattoos, floral designs and zodiac tattoos, especially for the nape.

Pain While Getting Neck Tattoo

Neck tattoos are equally notorious for the pain caused while getting them, as well as for the problems one has to face even after getting them! Neck tattoos are also called 'job blockers', as in most conservative jobs any visible tattoos are not encouraged or allowed. Many tattoo artists are not keen to do neck tattoos, especially, if a person is not heavily tattooed. Some tattoo artists also strongly advise not to get them done, by warning you about the neck tattoo pain. But if you are firm on your decision, then make sure the tattoo artist has experience in inking tattoos in such a delicate place.

Most of the people deciding on neck tattoos are always concerned about pain. The most frequently asked question is, if getting a neck tattoo is more painful than getting other tattoos. The skin on the back of the neck is thinner as compared to other parts, and it is closer to the bone with very little padding of fat and muscle in between. Hence, the pain involved in neck tattoos is much more than other tattoos. However, it totally depends on the individual and his pain threshold.

The other factor to consider is the healing time needed. Unlike other tattoos, which usually heal in about three weeks, neck tattoos take a lot longer. The reason being, the continuous motion of the head results in friction, thus, delaying healing and causing the tattoo to scab quickly. So sometimes, it becomes necessary to re-ink the tattoo for covering those areas which, of course, adds to the pain.

Avoid Bad Situations By Buying Quality Tattoo Supplies

If youre a tattoo artist, then theres no doubt that at some point youve seen someone have an allergic reaction to tattoo ink.

If youre a tattoo artist, then theres no doubt that at some point youve seen someone have an allergic reaction to tattoo ink. Its very rare, but there are always a couple of people at some point in your career who just have sensitive skin or who arent aware that theyll have such a reaction. Theres not much you can do about this, and you simply dont have control over people who have reactions to the ink you use. If youve just gotten started in the tattoo industry and havent seen this experience yet, then odds are, you will at some point. Dont let it alarm you or frighten you out of your career, because at least one of the people that have an allergic reaction will try to point a finger at you and blame you for their reaction, even though its probably their body to blame.

To avoid this situation though, there are a couple of things you can do to help prevent something like this happening. First of all, you can help avoid any kind of situation arising from the tattooing inks you use by making sure you order quality tattooing inks from a supplier that is reputable and trustworthy. If youre a tattoo artist and you own a shop, there are probably times, especially at the beginning, that youll be tempted to buy cheaper inks from an unknown supplier just because the price is so attractive. Dont be lured into this trap though; the quality of the supplies you use on your customers will show in their tattoos, and even if they dont have an allergic reaction to the tattooing inks you use, the tattoo may simply look bad or fade quicker. The way your business or your work appears to the rest of the world will affect how well your business does, so proceed with caution.

If youre just getting started in the business and are looking at tattoo kits for the first time, use discretion here also. Youll find tattoo kits filled with supplies that may be of poor quality, and you could end up purchasing tattoo kits that include bad tattooing inks that will cause an allergic reaction in a customer. The ingredients in ink are just pigments and carriers, and different vegetable dyes, minerals, and salts are used to color the ink; all of which could cause an allergic reaction.

Bottom line, no matter where youre at in your careerArticle Search, be cautious so that you dont have a customer coming back to point a finger at you.

Foot Tattoo Swelling

Foot tattoo swelling is a normal occurrence. A little bit of care and precautions can help it go down very soon. Read this article to know what you can do to check foot tattoo swelling. Foot tattoos look very beautiful, sensual and attractive. So more and more people, particularly women, are interested in getting a tattoo done on their feet. However, foot tattoo healing time is very long. It can range between a few days to few weeks depending on the size and location of the tattoo. Once the tattoo is done, the possibility of inflammation is high. The entire foot including the toes and ankle get swollen. It is maximum in the area surrounding the tattoo which becomes red and is warm to the touch.

Why does the Foot Tattoo Swell?

When you have decided to get a tattoo on your feet, you should be mentally prepared to experience more pain followed by swelling because of the tattoo. There are several nerve endings and capillaries in the foot. They are not cushioned with muscles like in other parts of the body. As a result, you will get more pain and more bleeding is going to occur. The greater the amount of bleeding, the higher the chance of swelling. This is one part of the body where blood circulation is not adequate and is therefore susceptible to a lot of stress which makes it prone to swelling. If you wear shoes and socks, heat, sweat and friction worsens the situation further. And of course, the feet are exposed to a lot of dust and dirt which also make it more susceptible to infection.

Preventing Foot Tattoo Swelling

When you have got a foot tattoo done on your feet, you must take all possible measures so that it does not get infected. This will help to reduce the risk of swelling and even if you get swelling, it should go at the earliest.

Keep the size of the tattoo small. Avoid any such designs that require too much of detailing. You are bound to get a number of foot jerks when the tattoo is being done and the tattooing requires a long time to finish. When the tattoo work requires more time then it is likely to give a lot of swelling.

During the tattoo's healing process, allow as much of air possible on the foot tattoo by not wearing shoes. When you are required to use footwear, wear flip flops. If you go barefoot for maximum time, both the foot tattoo pain and swelling will diminish faster. After the swelling goes down, if you want to wear shoes, wrap the foot with sterile gauze and then wear a pair of socks. Or else, the swelling will flare up once again due to friction with the shoe.

As swelling and soreness of foot tattoo is likely to occur, you may have to take time off from work until the tattoo gets healed up. In case, your job demands that you stay on your feet for long hours, then you have to take a break for not just few days but a couple of weeks. If you cannot afford to take such a long break, wait and go for tattoo only when you can take time off.

Keeping the foot clean all through the day is a major big challenge. Wash the foot 2-3 times a day with the help of a mild anti bacterial soap and warm water. Dry it up thoroughly with a soft piece of cloth without rubbing the cloth over the tattoo. Apply a tattoo care lotion that contains vitamin A and D. Rub the lotion with a gentle hand and dab off the excess using a paper towel. Do this a number of times a day to keep the skin moisturized which in turn will help to heal the tattoo fast.

Drinking plenty of water will keep you hydrated and decrease the chances of water retention in your feet. This will prevent the tattoo from further swelling. Eating a balanced diet and intake of vitamins during the recovery period will speed up the healing process. Light aerobic exercises will improve the blood circulation of the feet and thus help to bring down the inflammation.

You can get a lot of relief from the swelling, if you keep feet in an elevated position while sleeping or sitting in a chair. Application of ice wrapped in a soft cotton cloth will help if the swelling starts itching. Most importantly, strictly follow the foot tattoo aftercare instructions given by the tattoo artist.

The answer is that it might hurt when it is being done, it is not supposed to hurt as bad as when one got the tattoo, the sensation is almost like being snapped with rubber or leather.

The process of laser eradication would take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple hours and several treatments, there are a lot of decisions that go into it, how old the tattoo is, the color, the size etc.. The tattoo could still be there after your treatment, it will take many months for it to fade away.

The success rate has been quite excellent, no physician can guarantee a 100% eradication rate, it depends on the dependencies that I mentioned earlier, age, color, size, to be honest the lighter that your skin is, the better the results will be. The risks associated with laser tattoo removable are surprisingly quite low as long as one follows the proper sessions after the laser part is done, if one does not one must develop an infection that will have to be treated with a cream or antibiotic.
