Know Important Things about Laser Tattoo Removal before Treatment

In the history of tattooing, individuals have used varied tattoo making and tattoo removal techniques. Tattoo making is always a fun and people love to flaunt it in front of others. However, tattoo removal is quite different in this aspect. Most of the tattoo removal treatments failed to remove the tattoo completely while some others were so painful that people fear to confront them.

When the tattoo is crafted on the skin, lot many particles enter the skin and get embedded in it. Normally, when the human growth and healing process takes place in the body, all the foreign particles are removed. However, tattoo pigment is permanent as the particles are quite big to be removed. A large number of practices have been developed which target tattoo pigment but no one was much successful for one or the other reason.

The advent of laser tattoo removal brought smiles on those who desperately want to get their body tattoos removed. The single and simple principle of this technique is to break the tattoo pigments into smaller particles which are then removed gradually with the natural body changes.

Some of the treatments which were prominent before the laser tattoo removal are dermabrasion, TCA, cryosurgery, excision, etc. After these treatments, laser tattoo removal came into existence. Initially, this technique used continuous wave lasers but then soon they were replaced with Q-switched lasers. These lasers were commercially available in the year 1990. Using this laser, tattoo removal procedure becomes a non-invasive procedure.

The success of the laser tattoo removal depends on the four factors. These are:

The light color should penetrate deep into the skin so as to reach pigment of the tattoo.

The therapy will be a success only if the light penetrated more deeply in the tattoo pigment rather than the surrounding skin. The color of the laser light depends upon the pigment color of the tattoo.

It is essential that the time duration of the laser energy is very short so that it can heat the tattoo pigment to fragmentation temperature. If prolonged heat exposure is there, the heat can dissipate to the surrounding tissue. This can cause burns or scars in the skin.

Though, the exposure should be for short duration but it should be sufficient enough to deliver the whole energy to the pigments to reach the level of fragmentation. In case of low energy, no fragmentation will occur and thus no removal will occur.

It is always advisable to individuals going for this treatment to go for skin examination by an experienced dermatologist. He will suggest you that whether this treatment will work for you or not.
