Tattoo Power Unit

A tattoo power unit is a very important part of a tattoo kit. Without a tattoo power unit a tattoo gun cannot start working. So it has become pretty obvious that it needs to be picked properly and needs to be handled with care. Here are a few things discussed about a tattoo power unit.

ü  What is a tattoo power unit?

A tattoo power unit is actually a small box that is used to give power to the various kinds of tattoo machines. There are two power outlets in a tattoo power supply one outlet goes to the machine whereas the other one goes directly to the foot pedal that controls the power that is delivered to the tattoo machine.

ü  How many amperes does a tattoo power unit need?

A tattoo power unit generally runs on one, two or three amperes of current.

ü  What type of power is used by a tattoo power unit?

A tattoo power unit needs about 110 volts of AC power to run. A tattoo power unit actually converts the 110 volt AC power to a 12 volt DC power. AC power is unsteady and fluctuating whereas the DC power is Direct current. As a tattoo machine needs static current, hence AC power needs to be converted.

ü  How does a tattoo power unit work?

A tattoo power unit consist of a knob that is used to control the amount of voltage that it delivered to the tattoo machine. A tattoo artist adjusts the power depending on the type of tattoo machine used by him. There are different types of tattoo machines such as liners, shaders etc. these tattoo machines need different amount of power for operation which ca be controlled by this knob.
